Here’s What One Royal *Really* Thought About Her Engagement Ring

Ever wondered what it’s really like to marry a prince? It all looks like a fairy tale in Netflix movies … but in real life, well, reality kicks in. And we’re not just talking about the tons of royal dress code rules you have to follow once you’re officially part of “The Firm.” Or the millions of royal fans around the world who watch and love (or judge) your every step. It actually all starts way before you’ve made it to the altar. Take the engagement ring. It’s not simply a pretty piece a prince picks out and hopes his bride-to-be will love. Even if the couple chooses the ring together, there’s a lot more behind it. And sometimes, it seems, the engagement ring can leave a future princess cringing. According to a royal insider, one bride even went as far as to call hers gaudy! So what’s the story behind this ring that didn’t leave the best first impression? Read on to find out. Spirit Airlines May Be Gone, But These 3 Airlines Have Cheap Deals That Are Just as Good

Spirit was the airline everyone swore they’d never fly again, right up until they saw that $42 ticket and suddenly didn’t mind packing one backpack and a little patience. As flight prices kept climbing, Spirit Airlines became the go-to for travelers who cared more about getting there cheap than getting there in style. Now that the airline is out of the picture, it’s fair to wonder if those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fares went with it. With airfare costing what feels like a monthly utility bill these days, cheap getaways can seem like a thing of the past. But don’t start mourning budget travel just yet, because there are still a few airlines keeping low-cost flights alive , even if you have to dig a little to find them. Read on to see which airlines are keeping low fares on the map. Get  Reader’s Digest ’s  Read Up newsletter for more travel, cleaning, humor, tech and fun facts all week long. Another ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actor Has Been Diagnosed With ALS—And His Fiancées Reaction Will Break Your Heart

Actor Russell Andrews has shared some heartbreaking news with the world: He’s been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as ALS. The news comes just three months after Andrews’  Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Eric Dane, died from the disease . On May 16, Andrews, who is best known for his roles in  Better Call Saul and  Straight Outta Compton , was interviewed on CNN’s The Story Is with Elex Michaelson when he shared his diagnosis with the world. “I am a person living with ALS,” he said during the interview. Andrews, 64, was diagnosed in the fall of 2025. “It’s been humbling but there’s… Elex, there’s also something in the fact that I walked into a family of very caring people I did not know a year ago—the cliché family, but they have not let us miss a step in terms of care, the attention, the awareness and the ability to get me here today,” Andrews said. He w...

Barbra Streisand Is Forced to Pull Out of Upcoming Engagement

Barbra Streisand will be honored at the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival in late May—but she won’t be attending. Streisand is set to receive a Palme d’Or award on May 23 alongside actor John Travolta and filmmaker Peter Jackson. However, the iconic singer confirmed that she wouldn’t be able to travel to France for the event due to an injury. “On the advice of my doctors, as I continue recovering from a knee injury, I am sadly unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year,” Streisand said in a statement. “But I am deeply honored to receive the Honorary Palme d’or and had so been looking forward to celebrating the remarkable films of the 79th edition. I was also very much looking forward to spending time with colleagues whom I so admire – and, of course, returning to France, a place I have always loved. While I regret that I can’t be there in person, I want to extend my warmest congratulations to all of the filmm...

This Is the No. 1 Spot You’re Missing When You Apply Sunscreen

Like most health-conscious people, I’m absolutely obsessive about applying sunscreen before spending a day in the sun. But when I’m dashing out to walk my dog or run to the store, I have to admit I can be a bit haphazard about coverage. I’ll swipe a high-SPF on my face and then quickly spray my arms and legs, just hoping I covered my bases. And I know I’m not the only one. But when we speed-slather, are we botching our coverage? It’s crucial to make sure we’re doing SPF right, because “daily, consistent sunscreen use has been shown to reduce the risk of melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma,” says Tiffany J. Libby, MD, director of Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery at Brown Dermatology in Providence, Rhode Island. “It’s also the No. 1 anti-aging intervention, as up to 80% to 90% of visible skin aging is driven by UV exposure.” But sunscreen does the job only if you apply it thoroughly, adds Joshua Zeichner, MD, as...

This Is the No. 1 Mistake You’re Making with Your Black Clothing

As a former New Yorker and the mom of two sticky little kids, I own lots of black clothing. It’s amazing at hiding stains, and it makes me feel chic without trying too hard. But there’s one problem I can’t seem to shake: I’m constantly replacing my black clothes due to premature fading. What else can I do? A faded little black dress doesn’t exactly scream glamour—instead of chic, I just look dingy. Well, it turns out that there’s one big mistake I’ve been making when it comes to black clothing, and there’s a good chance you’re doing it too. I spoke with Steve Collins, a third-generation dry cleaner at Sig Samuels Dry Cleaners in Atlanta, to learn the ins and outs of black fabric care. Interested? Burned Out and Looking to Truly Disconnect? It’s Time to Try Deadzoning

I recently traveled to Switzerland to go to the sky-high wellness mecca Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne. As the funicular whisked me up the steep mountainside, breaks in the trees revealed spring-green hills and moody blue water thousands of feet below—but, tragically, I was missing it all because I was frantically trying to check a work-related email that wouldn’t load. Finally, I looked up in frustration and saw the surreal scenery passing me by. What was I even doing? Here I was in an alpine paradise, on my way to a wellness spa, and I was stressing myself out over something trivial that most definitely could wait. I switched my phone to do-not-disturb mode and kept it that way for the rest of the trip. I’m hardly alone in feeling the stress of constant connectivity, especially when it comes to work and that slippery habit that conditions us to respond, Pavlovian-style, to every ding, buzz and vibration from all of our different devices. According to the 202...
