Good News! Costco Is Bringing Back This Fan-Favorite Staple

When tried-and-true Kirkland products disappear from Costco warehouses, even just momentarily, it creates a panic. That’s because when Costco puts the Kirkland name on an item, they make sure it’s as high-quality as the top brand-name competitor out there, if not better. Having to switch to a (clearly inferior!) product just won’t do. Let’s face it, if anything ever happens to their $4.99 rotisserie chicken, people might actually riot.

In the past, we’ve seen Costco’s beloved Kirkland Signature Chocolate Chips go bye-bye, as well as food-court favorites like churros. But when Costco members started noticing one pantry staple absent from warehouse aisles in September, well, folks were on edge. But we have good news: It’s back! Keep reading to learn which Kirkland fave is returning, and when you’ll see it on the shelves.

What’s returning to Costco?

Breathe an enormous sigh of relief, Costco members—Kirkland Signature Organic Peanut Butter is back, baby. Well, at least in some warehouses. We’ll dig into the specifics ahead, but know that your favorite creamy PB could soon be spotted at your local Costco.

“Finally,” said one commenter on the popular Instagram account @Costco_Empties. “Was pretty annoyed it was gone.”

When did Kirkland peanut butter disappear from shelves?

Around September 2025, Kirkland Signature Organic Peanut Butter was becoming harder and harder for members to find. Across social media, fans of the delicious PB expressed the difficulties they were having finding the product, which comes in a two-pack of 28-ounce jars.

Needless to say, they weren’t happy—not in the least. Some even threatened to cancel their memberships if it didn’t return! Thankfully, there doesn’t appear to be a need for anything that drastic.

What peanut butter did Costco sell in the interim?

During the very dismal time that can best be coined “Kirkland PB-Pandemonium,” Costco sold a different brand instead: Naturally More Organic Creamy Peanut Butter. Reviews around the substitution were mixed, and most Costco members didn’t find it up to par with the deliciously mixable Kirkland variety they know and love.

When will Kirkland peanut butter be returning to shelves?

It’s going to be a little hit or miss right now. When we called Costco customer service in November 2025, the representative told us that it was still listed as “active” in their system. But there was no fulfillment date in sight.

And an early-December perusal of Los Angeles–area Costcos didn’t turn up any of the Kirkland Signature Organic Peanut Butter just yet. Likewise, a Reader’s Digest editor hasn’t spotted it in her Connecticut Costco either. But, a Costco member commenting on the @Costco_Empties Instagram post said they saw it up for grabs in Clermont, Florida. In other words, it looks like the rollout will be spotty.

The moral of the story? Keep your eyes peeled, and keep the faith. Sometimes, a Kirkland product’s disappearance is only brief. Fortunately, there isn’t a “Death Star” on the PB (if you know you know), so just be patient—good things await.

Will Cicadas Destroy Your Garden? 10 Things You Need to Know

It’s easy to wince thinking about the mass emergence of insects like cicadas. Their numbers can reach millions per acre, creating a near-deafening buzzing chorus. So it’s understandable that questions like, “Will cicadas eat my plants?” immediately spring to mind. But cicadas are also pretty fascinating and play important roles in the ecosystem. “Cicadas inspire wonder in our world!” says Jennifer Hopwood, senior pollinator conservation specialist at the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. “They spend most of their life underground next to the same plant roots. Somehow, these creatures are able to track the years that pass by and time their emergence with other periodical cicadas in the region to overwhelm predators. They are amazing little critters.” Here’s a rundown of what to know about cicadas, good and bad, including whether or not they eat plants and how to protect your trees during an emergence.
