Costco Just Discontinued Another Beloved Kirkland Product—And Fans Are Outraged
For Costco shoppers, there are certain Kirkland products that always make the shopping list. They’re as integral to our fridges and pantries as eggs and butter because of how well Costco keeps prices low, especially on its famed private-label Kirkland Signature brand. For me, it’s Kirkland paper towels and maybe, just maybe, Kirkland prosecco (if you know, you know). But as much as the warehouse retailer may giveth, it also taketh away.
Yep, Costco discontinues Kirkland products from time to time, much to the dismay of its customers. You always hope it won’t happen to one of your favorites, and then—bam!—the next thing you know, Kirkland chocolate chips are a thing of the past. And now shoppers are up in arms over the latest Kirkland casualty. Read on to find out if it’s one of your faves.

Which Kirkland item is being discontinued?
According to a slew of very upset Costco members on Reddit, Kirkland Signature soy milk is no longer available at their local stores.
When a Redditor reached out to Costco to file a complaint about not being able to find soy milk on shelves, they received this response from the retailer: “Thank you for your feedback regarding the KS Soy Milk. Unfortunately, the KS Soy Milk was discontinued due to slow sales. However, we plan on bringing in a branded soy milk as an item rotation throughout the year. The next rotation is due to arrive in August.”
Why are Costco shoppers so upset?
While Costco says it’s discontinuing the Kirkland soy milk due to poor sales, you’d never know it by the many outraged reactions on Reddit.
For one, shoppers loved the product for its affordable price. “I am in shambles right now,” lamented one Reddit user. “The price cannot be beat, and I mix it with my protein shake daily.”
On the Costco website, a 12-pack of 32-ounce containers costs just $18.49, breaking down to just $1.54 per carton. (Alas, the product is not in stock online.) For reference, we found this same package in the vanilla flavor available on Amazon, but for a whopping $53.99 (or $4.50 per carton). That’s more than a 65% upcharge—and one more reason why you shouldn’t buy Amazon products on Costco!
Others are more upset because they say the taste of the Kirkland soy milk is their favorite of all the options available. “I know it’s silly but I am so devastated,” said another shopper on the same Reddit thread. “The Kirkland brand soy milk was the best dairy-free milk I have ever found.”
What prompted this decision?
According to Costco, the decision was sparked by slow sales of its private-label Kirkland soy milk. While the big-box store does sell other alternative milks, including oat and almond, Kirkland Signature was the only soy variety it carried.
Once upon a time, the warehouse did carry three-packs of Silk soy milk in the refrigerated section, and some fans hope it will return. From the response the Redditor received, it sounds like a solid possibility.
Will Costco bring back Kirkland soy milk?
Never say never, but at least for the immediate future, it doesn’t appear as though Costco has any plans to bring back its Kirkland soy milk. More often than not, the store sticks to its decisions regarding discontinuations, but it never hurts to reach out to customer service to voice your disappointment.
In the meantime, that very same Reddit thread lamenting the loss of Kirkland soy milk suggests giving Trader Joe’s shelf-stable unsweetened soy milk a try for $2.29 a carton.
