The Music On Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship Will Take You to a Whole New World

Disney cruise fans have been counting down the days to the inaugural sailing of the brand’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, the sixth in the growing Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet. This past week, as it made its way from the shipyard in the Netherlands to its home in Port Canaveral, Florida, ahead of its December 2024 maiden voyage, crews tested out a new feature that will be music to DCL fans ears. Read on to learn all about it.

What is the new feature?

Instead of a regular old toot, traditionally used to communicate with other ships, Disney cruise ships play classic Disney melodies as their horn salutes. Other ships, including the Wish, which set sail in 2022, play notes from When You Wish Upon a Star, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” Be Our Guest, Its a Small World, and other Disney classics.

Well, the Disney Treasure is doing one better and will be the first ship to play not one, not two, but seven new melodies for its horn salutes.

In harbors across the world, passengers and passersby always know when a Disney Cruise Line ship is embarking by its distinct ship horn salute, which artfully combines the nostalgia of beloved Disney stories with the centurieslong maritime tradition of sending audio signals to communicate, the company posted on its blog.

What are the seven new horn salutes?

DCL teased guests by sharing only three of the new horn salutes so far, leaving us to guess what the other four might be. Per the blog, the tunes were chosen to complement the daring tales that will be found on board the Disney Treasure, while others capture the ships motif of adventure.

The three confirmed melodies are:

  • Grim Grinning Ghosts, a tribute to the Haunted Mansion Parlor, a bar on the Treasure.
  • Remember Me from Coco, which is a nod to the Treasures restaurant Plaza de Coco.
  • A Whole New Worldfrom Aladdin. A large sculpture of Aladdin and Jasmine on the flying rug is featured in the Treasures Grand Hall.

We have a few guesses as to what the other tunes will be. The Treasure will premiere the live musical Disney: the Tale of Moana, so were expecting to hear How Far Ill Go or one of the other catchy tunes from the Moana movie or Moana 2, which premieres next week. And with Peter Pan and Captain Hook figures on the stern of the ship, You Can Fly or another tune from the Peter Pan movie seems like a natural fit. As for the other two, your guess is as good as ours!
