What is Amazon Haul, exactly?
Amazon Haul is Amazon’s new discount-shopping experience, boasting “crazy-low prices” on millions of items. It offers a wide selection of products for $20 or lesswith most under $10and they are all backed by Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee, which protects shoppers when buying from third-party sellers.
According to the online retailer, the new feature is a response to consumer demand. “Customers are increasingly turning to Amazon for low-priced items,” an Amazon spokesperson explained. “Amazon Haul is the latest way we are innovating to offer an even more low-priced selection.”
How does Amazon Haul work?
There are two ways to access Amazon Haul: Simply type “Haul” into the search bar of the Amazon app, then select the first option that comes up. Or type Amazon.com/haul into your smartphone’s web browser. Just don’t expect to visit the shop on your computerit’s available on mobile devices only.
Haul appears to be Amazon’s answer to shopping sites like Temu, which tend to offer deeper discounts than retailers like Amazon and Walmart but usually have longer shipping timelines. And Haul will deliver your low-priced goods faster than some budget-shopping sites. That said, it’s still notably slower than other Amazon shopping options. Unlike Amazon Prime, which promises one- or two-day shipping, Amazon Haul typically delivers orders in one to two weeks. When browsing Haul, however, the site says 75% of orders are delivered within seven days.
There is a $3.99 shipping fee for orders under $25, while orders over $25 qualify for free shipping. Amazon also offers free returns on Haul purchases over $3 within 15 days of delivery.
What kinds of deals can you find there?
Amazon Haul offers deep discounts on 300 million items across many different product categories, from clothing to fitness, home decor to tools. Some of the deals you’ll find include:
- Initial travel jewelry box: $5.95
- Shockproof silicone iPhone case: $1.99
- Velvet decorative throw pillow cover: $2.99
- Women’s waterproof raincoat: $19.99
- Men’s athletic hoodie: $11.99
To encourage more shopping, Haul provides bigger discounts when you spend more, offering 5% off orders over $50 and 10% off orders over $75.
Are these items exclusive to Amazon Haul?
No. According to Amazon, “for select items, customers may discover similar products available to purchase in both Amazon Haul and other Amazon stores.” Customers can then choose which shopping experience and delivery speed they prefer.
For instance, the regular Amazon site sells essentially the same travel jewelry box as Haul. It’s a couple dollars more expensive, but it also comes with free Prime two-day shipping and free 30-day returns if you’re a Prime member.
So if you need something quickly, you may opt to pay a little more; if you can wait, you may opt to pay less. Just be mindful of shipping times when doing holiday shopping on either siteit could mean the difference between having gifts arrive on time and handing your loved one an IOU.
Do you need Amazon Prime to order from Amazon Haul?
Amazon Haul is separate from Amazon Prime, so you don’t need a Prime account to use the new service.
If you are already a Prime member, there are no additional benefits (like faster shipping) when you use Haul. In fact, Prime may be a better option when shipping speed is your top concern.
How do you sign up for Amazon Haul?
Unlike Prime, there is no sign-up or subscription needed for Haul. Just search for it in the Amazon app or visit Amazon.com/haul on your mobile device.
Is Amazon Haul available now?
The beta version of Haul is currently rolling out. It’s available to U.S. customers when they update their Amazon app.
Should you try Amazon Haul?
If you’re searching the traditional Amazon site for a specific item, it may be worth checking Haul to see if you can find a similar product for a much lower price. But since you need to spend at least $25 to get free shipping, you may end up buying more than you intend just to get a good deal. The trick may be waiting to order what you need until it adds up to $25.
Using Amazon Haul mindfully, though, can yield incredible savings, and knowing that it’s backed by Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee makes it a low-risk way to shop for great discounts.
